Distributor portals
Distributors are typically the sales and support channel for defined regions, sales channels or customer segments.
Their broad responsibilities necessitate specific sales, marketing, and operations support from the vendor or manufacturer. The need for the vendor having a payment gateway is less in regions covered by a distributor, because the distributor usually supports his own payment options – including local options.
On the other hand, requirements for sales and marketing support are significant, including the need for data sharing between the vendor and distributor and potentially other local parties. This includes various sales and customer reports and tracking, as well as exchanging information on the local market. The system responsible for all this – the online distributor portal – must be flexible enough to allow the client to react quickly to any changes that occur in the market (new distributors, channels, products, etc.) as well as those that may occur internally (such as the deployment of new business systems, demands of government regulations). The solution must allow necessary information to flow to and from both parties.
